"We have children at the heart of everything we do and understand the need to nurture the whole child both personally and academically."

Dutch language learning

Every child is given the opportunity to learn Dutch with a native Dutch primary school teacher. The lessons are divided into two strands: Dutch Language and Dutch Culture. The Dutch language lessons are separated into two classes:

  • New to Dutch (beginners and intermediate Dutch speakers)
  • Native Dutch (native or near native Dutch speakers)

During the Dutch language lessons, the children learn basic conversation through games, songs, drama and activities. Children who are native Dutch speakers have separate language classes, which are tailored to the individual needs of each child.

The Dutch culture lessons enable children to learn about a variety of Dutch customs and traditions, including learning about Dutch food, Koninginnedag, Carnival, Queen’s Day and (the story of) Sinterklaas.
